Giuseppe Galati MD, MMSc, is a Consultant Cardiologist in Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies at the Heart Failure Division, the Unit of Clinical Cardiology, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Department, San Raffaele Research Hospital, Milan, Italy.
He is recognized as a national and international expert in the field of Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies.
He earned the Official Italian Second Level Master in Clinical Competence in Heart Failure 2017 - Organized by the University of Florence and by the Italian Association of Hospital Cardiologists (ANMCO).
In 2016 he obtained the Certification of Competence in Heart Failure that recognizes him as an expert in the field, by the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of European Society of Cardiology (ESC).
Furthermore, he is certified by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) of European Society of Cardiology (ESC): Level 1 certification in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR).
His main field of interest include Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathies and rare genetic cardiovascular diseases responsible for sudden cardiac death. In particular, he is considered an expert in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, restrictive and infiltrative cardiomyopathies (especially: cardiac amyloidosis and sarcoidosis). He managed hundreds of patients with cardiac amyloidosis with his Mentor: Professor Rapezzi.
He made studies of cardiovascular pathology on advanced heart failure responsible for heart transplantation.
Since 2013, he leads a research project on myocardial fibrosis and on pathophysiology of end-stage hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
He build up his expertise in the field of Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplantation and Ventricular Assist Devices (both in adult and in child) at Heart Transplantation and Advanced Heart Failure Centre of Bologna (Mentor: Professor Grigioni).
He is involved in many research trials on Heart Failure, with the main aim of developing new therapies and new hopes for patients with heart failure and in particular with advanced heart failure (GALACTIC Trial, PARALLAX Trial, COMMANDER-HF Trial, ARIADNE, BLITZ-HF) but also in preventive cardiology (FOURIER Trial). He is Member of: European Society of Cardiology – ESC; American Heart Association – AHA; Heart Failure Association – HFA (Gold Member); European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging – EACVI (Silver Member); ESC Working Group of Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases; EACVI Heart Imagers of Tomorrow – HIT; Heart failure Specialist of Tomorrow – HoT; ESC Scientist of Tomorrow – SoT; Italian Society of Cardiology – SIC; Italian Association of Hospital Cardiologists – ANMCO.
