Overview
Rhythm Interventions Online (RIO) is a new innovative virtual event that brought together a leading international faculty to create a rich, interactive experience to best inform the global electrophysiology community of the latest developments and advances in clinical practice.
Led by Course Director, Prof Richard Schilling, Barts Heart Centre, London, and delivered through a crafted programme of discussion, opinion, and live cases from leading international centres, RIO's programme comprised twelve hours of best-in-class learning over three days, in addition to symposia and breakout sessions.
Note, the live version of this session was CME accredited; this on-demand version is not.

Richard Schilling
Consultant Cardiologist
Prof Schilling has been a consultant cardiologist at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London NHS trust since 2001. He was appointed as chair in cardiology and electrophysiology in 2009. His current practice involves all aspects of electrophysiology and management of cardiac arrhythmia including catheter ablation, implantation of pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization therapy for heart failure patients.
Prof Schilling was part of the team that lead the merger of the Heart and Barts hospitals which is one of the largest heart centers in Europe. He is the Strategy Director for Barts Hospital, the Medical Director for the Arrhythmia Alliance and President-Elect for the British Heart Rhythm Society.
Mattias Duytschaever
Dr Mattias Duytschaever obtained his medical degree in 1995 from the University of Ghent and conducted research for his PhD into the role of atrial electrical remodeling in the management of atrial fibrillation , at the University of Maastricht, The Netherlands.
Dr Duytschaever completed his training in cardiology at the Academic Hospital Ghent, Belgium, from 2000 to 2002, and became Professor in Electrophysiology at the University of Ghent in 2003. Since 2006, he has been conducting diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology at the Department of Electrophysiology at St Jan Hospital Bruges, Belgium, still providing his services as Professor in Electrophysiology at the University of Ghent.
Jason G Andrade
Director, Atrial Fibrillation Clinic, Electrodiagnostics, and Cardiac Electrophysiology
Dr Jason Andrade is a Cardiac Electrophysiologist at Vancouver General Hospital in Canada, with joint appointment at St Paul’s Hospital and the Montreal Heart Institute. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and an Adjunct Professor at the Université de Montréal. Dr. Andrade is the Director of the Electrophysiology Program at VGH, as well as Head of the Atrial Fibrillation Clinic at VGH. He also serves as co-chair of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society Atrial Fibrillation Guidelines committee, and serves as the medical lead for the atrial fibrillation care in the province of British Columbia. He previously served as chair of the education committee for the Canadian Heart Rhythm society.
Dr. Andrade is the principal investigator of two ongoing multicenter clinical trials on cryoablation (the CIRCA-DOSE study and the EARLY-AF program). He has authored or co-authored over 120 scientific publications, predominantly in the domain…
Javed Butler
Dr Javed Butler is currently Professor of Medicine and Director of Heart Failure Research at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr Butler completed his undergraduate medical training at the prestigious Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. He then completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Yale University where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. He followed this up with a fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Vanderbilt University.
